One way to tell whether the 4x4 is working or not is put it on jack stands, start it, put it in gear, see if the drive shaft to the rear wheels is spinning (it should be), then pull the 4x4 lock lever on the console and see if the rear wheels engage. .

Any idea where this relay box is please? Guess it is either a relay going down or a bad ground.Replace your rear blinker and you should be good. The fast blinking is there to indicate a bulb has burned out. I've been wondering if mine is going out. I have a strange rattle when coming to a stop. Brought it to the dealer last yr because the SErvice 4wd light kept coming on.A flashing odometer is telling you there is an internal problem or fault in the system. Most likely the instrument panel. There could be a recall or a TSB out there on that problem. Most of the time they simply have to reprogram an onboard computer of which there are a few. That is an issue unfortunately the dealer will have to deal with.

The driveshaft always turns but you should be able connect and disconnect power to rear wheels using the 4x4 switch.
