I have a th350 trans and a np205 transfer case. I have replaced the 2 seals in the adapter in last month twice and I'm still getting transmission fluid in the t case. I'm still running the factory motor mounts and factory crossmember for the transfer case so it's not at any crazy angle.Jul 16, 2003 · Take it with you to the parts store for comparison. Zulder, I'm quite sure the NP205 transfer case has had automatic transmission fluid, 30 weight motor oil, and yes even gear lube as factory approved lubricants over the years. If you were going to be running 90% street, I wouldn't hesitate to use ATF.Re: Transfer case fluid. Also welcome to the site. In the 76 service manual which can be found in the tech section, on page 7M-3 (page 203) 3 or 4 speed manual transmission should have the 205, the automatic transmission should have the 203.
